Superiors lot #2220

I was watching Superiors auction live on Ebay the other night and lot#2220 opened at $7750.00 This coin was feathured on the cover of the catalog. It is a NGC ms-66 1879-s. Sounds like prices for top quality toned are still strong

It opened and closed at that price. Looks like a very optimistic seller still owns his coin.

It sounds like this coin was offered, not sold, at $7750. Frankly, I don't understand why the auction houses allow the consigners to place such high reserves on their coins. I remember the Michael Casper fiasco with Heritage last year, when only a small portion of his collection sold. And, to place coins with these outrageous reserves on the cover of the catalog is simply decepetive to potential bidders.
