Heritage Auction what's hot and what's not.

Much activity on the Lincolns. The Flying Eagles were soaring! Early Half Dimes were brisk but just as many did not sell.

Jeffersons were deader than Jefferson himself. I believe every one of them did not sell, about 30 lots.

Buffalo 3 leggers were dead dead dead. There were about 8 for sale and not one sold. Including a few high end ones in MS66 I believe.

Heritage had many unsold lots but I am sure the usual suspects will say the market is hot hot hot. I say not not not [ok depnds where you are looking].

The show seemed slow, very easy to move around, unlike LB last Spetember.

I picked up the 100 Greatest coins book and Doug Winter's new $20 gold book. These alone made the trip worthwhile!! image

I am holding back buying more coins at this juncture as I see prices coming down, way down over the next few months. If the economy continues to tank I will have a war chest ready to buy.

  • Looking over the prices realized for Buffalos, they don't look as strong as I expected. I thought that after the Pennsylvania Collection went up last month, they'd be on fire.

Lincolns are still insane. I'm debating unloading all of mine...I've kind of lost interest in the series. image
  • Jeffs were dead, I had 2 lots for sale and I am so sorry I sold one for what it went for. My 43 DDO did about what I thought it should, however I am still crying about my 42-P T2, $300.. that is a shame, Try finding that coin. My 10-S Lincoln in 66RD went for about half what a twice as common 1911 in 66RD went for, go figure. Oh yeah the market is hot, hot hot.
  • What I found surprising and troubling is that a number of coins had damage not described in the catalog. There were strong bids on these coins and I thought I was missing something. Upon further investigation they were internet and mail bids so I figure they never saw the coins in person. Overall I feel this is bad for the hobby as people who get burned this way will no longer buy/bid.

I understand Heritage needs to satisfy their consignor but an accurate description is needed, afterall, this is not eBay!

Anything I have consigned with them is only hot the show before and the show after!!!image
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

Clackamas, I got that 42P T2 MS67FS. I couldn't believe I got it at that price. there's a couple more coming up in auctions
so I was just fishing for a price. I've needed this date for a long time. Thanks
  • I got outbid on a Seated Half Dime that I needed for my Type Set. Because I missed the auction, I can't tell whether it was an E-Bay bidder or someone on the floor who snagged the piece. Wish E-Bay would get that data posted.
