Grade guesses and opinions on this toned Morgan? (Grade Posted)

Just received this in the mail today. I think it is very nice, with the luster shining through the toning.
What do you all think? Want to take a guess at the grade?

64-65ish. Kinda hard to tell if some of the marks are toning or hits. I'm assuming most of them are toning.

Well struck with envelope or album toning. Row of bag marks by stars L5-7. MS64.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • Noise on the cheek...I'm going 63 tops...

MS64, unless there are light cheek scuffs, hard to tell from the scan, then a 63.

That is really tough without looking at it -- that toning could cover a lot of marks -- I hate to guess whether I see marks or not. I would focus on the cheek in particular. Are those hits on the chin? I'd have to see that one in person before buying it. Not a tough date, so I susepct your price was reasonable, and took into account the mysteries that await upon inspection. Hope you are happy with it.

  • First the disclaimers:
    1. it is tough to grade from scans
    2. toned coins are even harder to grade

    Now the grade - ms65

Lava- yes it was a surprise coin I picked up fairly cheap. And that is the type of toning that makes guessing a grade difficult. It has some nice colors on the periphery that don't really show in the image. It is one of those that I buy to put away in hopes of a rainy day.

Its nearly impossible to grade this one based on the scan. Its not that the scan is badly done, its just hard to get a good look at the surfaces of the coin.
