PCGS CustServ tells me to expect a delay ...

... because of LB. What is the solution?

Publicize that times may change if they aren't finished before show starts?

Put in a little overtime and make sure they meet published turnaround times?

Offer a discount during those periods?

or

I shoulda' kept my coins 'til next nothing's on the schedule?

  • Am I the only one who feels that Rick Montgomery was the only grader they had, and with him gone, it leaves homerunhall running the place???imageimageimage
A dealer once asked me if I noticed any three-legged buffalos on the bourse,to which I replied,"...no,but I saw alot of two-legged jackasses..."

I've never really understood this business. Why do the graders need to go to shows? PCGS doesn't offer free opinions on coins at shows. They ought to leave the graders at the shop, doing what they have been paid to be doing, grading our coins. Their turnaround time as it is has been unacceptable lately, and now they are delaying even further submissions so their graders can go on a little vacation. And people wonder why I have sent all my recent submissions to NGC, who currently are running right at 20 days turnaround on economy submissions.
  • Jesus, now it will be even longer for the coins to be graded!image

  • Maybe we should start sending our prizes to NGC. I think PCGS and all the other companies under the CU umbrella have gone down hill as far as customer service and quality is concerned since they went public.image
  • image It seems everytime you turn around, there is another major show! And of course the lame excuse that your coins have been here a few weeks, yet they haven't been graded yet, still sitting around!!! But we'll get to them as soon as the crew returns from New York!!image

I called today and have 4 orders on the hotlist (14 business days and still not even in grading). I don't know, with customer service so bad I think it's time for PCGS to pony up something for the collectors club members. Some free gradings maybe. But then again, we are not PCGS bread and butter, we are just collectors who are stupid enough to keep sending our coins to a company who really does not think we are important to their bottom line...

    Whew, I feel much better.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • Maybe homerunhall should stay at PCGS and grade some coins instead of going to the show Friday and shaking hands.image

But remember, our coins are on the back burner anyway. We are just little pee-ons that don't count anyway.

I need to make a correction to my earlier post- I did not know they were doing on-site grading at certain shows. I have not been to a show in years, so I am still behind the times. Still, in my opinion, shows are no excuse to push back submission turnaround times, especially on premium services. How is it that NGC goes to these shows as well, and manages to maintain their turnaround time? Hey David, how about an answer? (Not holding my breath)

I handed them my invoice for grading on Dealer Day at FUN. So, they have had them in their possession since January 8 and they still have not been graded. I think this will be my last sumission to PCGS for an extended period of time. It may be time for me to go to NGC again with coins that I believe would benefit by being certified.

Tom, with what I have seen in the last few weeks, it is a no-brainer. Everything I have under $300 is going to NGC, and I am not renewing my Collector's Club membership that expires in a few weeks. 50+ day turnaround on economy submissions is just not acceptable, and I have yet to see any kind of reasonable explanation for it.
