Another Toned Morgan Dollar to look at!

I picked this one up the other day. In an NGC 63 holder, its an 83O. Its not for sale and the price was very low, much less than three figures. Feel free to post some of your coins of any type and feel free to comment negatively on the coin. I dont mind!

Very nice! It reminds me of a 1887 one I won on ebay the other day. And in the mid 2 digit range. image When I get it, I'll post a pic. What does the reverse look like? I love those fine line crescents.
  • NWCS, the reverse is all white and very clean, ms65 in grade. image

  • This is my newest. This is the ebay photo. I have a feeling it will be much nicer when I get it and can take a picture with a camera and not scanner.

  • Lori, those violet coins can be drop dead beautiful in person. The glow from the luster underneath is fantastic. Im sure it will look much better in your hand. Most scanners butcher toned coins. image

Nice coin. Maybe we should award Toneys,

for the best of the toned coins we see here. Bearimage

  • Very nice crescent toned coin - I love the subtle rainbow effect as well - Better be careful though, those toners are habit forming! image

I would bet that that coin is envolope toned. Most of these coins seem to be robbed of thewre luster by the envolope. Love to know if this one is lustorous
  • Toneddollars, you are absolutely correct in your assesment. This coin has passable luster but it is somewhat subdued. I have several bag toned 1886 dollars which the luster just blows you away. This one is not like those at all. However the autmun gold on the phyrgian cap of lady liberty is much more bright and defined on the coin than in this photograph. It is quite a striking coin in person. And Frank you are right, it is habit forming!image
