Toned 1893 Columbian - Guess Grade Help

I won this on ebay and love the toning. Please tell me it is real. I think it is but I am shoting 50/50 on my guesses lately.

I was also hoping you could also give me a grade on this coin. Auction stated Album Toned .

Thanks for the help once again!!

The picture I am getting is out of focus, so it's hard for me to determine if it's AU or Unc.

It looks like the coin was polished long ago and has now retoned with the blue and gold around the edge, but I'm basing that on a less than perfect image. There are definitely hairlines in the in the right field so if it's Unc. we are not talking choice here. Somehow the coin looks polished.

If you could throw up a sharper image, perhaps the other board members and I could give you a more definitive answer.

AU58 cleaned & retoned. I see alot of scratches in the obv field on the right side.
    Kinda looks cameo doesn't it?
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

    I don't know if it's real toning, and I don't know what it would grade - I also don't care. I LIKE it! I think it's damned pretty! Can I have it?image

AU55, and VERY attractive at that grade, would probably pay MS60 money for a coin with this much eye appeal, and to heck with its distractions, I like it overall (IMO lightly cleaned, toning 75% natural looking, mild cameos, very pretty coin lori)

  • Sorry Russ, I think I will keep this one. It caught my eye and had to have it.

Hopefully you guys (gals) can give me a better grade once I get the coin and can take better pictures. I wonder if it really looks that frosty.

Some of those Columbians come prooflike, and this may be one of those. You'll be able to tell more when you get it in hand, the picture is pretty bad.
