A few words about Conder101 & his research........

Dog97Dog97 Posts: 7,874 ✭✭✭
I consider myself privileged to have gotten a sneak preview of his new book about slabs. Man it's great! It has everything you ever wanted to know about every slab & grading company ever heard of.
Names, places, dates, relative rarities of certain slabs, it even has a section dedicated to grading company bodybags. He even has them broken down by type, styles, the difference between how many check boxes are 1 type from another. Simply incredible the time he must have dedicated to searching out body bags. Not just PCGS bags but bags from all the services. There is even a section on ACG body bags. Believe that or not.
Because of him giving me info on the samples I had I have almost turned into a full time sample slab collector.
I'd like to thank him for his research and his time and effort and for letting me get a peak at his work. It's clear that this wasn't just his hobby it was his passion. Simply amazing the time he must have spent on this.
He even has a few of us named in the front as contributors.
All I can say is that when his book is officially released GET IT!!!! No numismatic library will be complete without it.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

  • That is cool. I want a signed copy.
  • I totally agree with you Dog97. The CD is awesome and I can't wait to get the book in print to sit down and enjoy. I have thought about collecting just slabs also, but that would be hard giving up some great coins (they can come in slabs though). Any info on when the book will be out?

Hey Hey Hey, I thought we weren't supposed to talk about stuff that's for sale..... haha, I know, it's not for sale yet.

Looking forward to it, I've contributed exactly one bodybag to the cause.

I hope Dorkkarl is getting a complimentary copy, if not we should all chip in.

Conder101..... add me for that book but you should already have me down for one signed copy.

Don't forget about the 2nd edition! I want to be famous as a contributor!!!

That ACG body bag must be very valuable!!!! Hmmm, if I send a coin sawed in half would that qualify as a legitimate ACG bodybag?

I am also looking forward to Conder's book. Back before I joined the boards (way back), I had the opportunity to send him a scan of a particular ANACS certificate he wanted. So in a tiny way, I helped! image

Writing a book has to be a massive undertaking.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

I can't wait to take a peak. I couldn't imagine the effort it requires to obtain all the information, and then keep it all organized and then get it all in print. Amazing to me.

Will Condor be setting up a prerelease special here on the boards for this book or do I have to wait until it is available in my favorite store?
  • When it is ready it will be announced here on the forum, and forum members will be given a discount. I was going to announce the availability of the CD's tomorrow but have decided to hold off until the print version is ready as well. Hopefully not too long because I would really like to get this book out there so I can move on to other things and also start compiling the new data for the second edition which right now I'm just stashing in a file folder.
  • I too have been privileged to get an advanced copy of this wonderful tome. image

I plan to order at least two of the books when they are available.

    Great work, Conder!
