I'm not into making anyone mad so.....

This was posted recently in a different thread, by Pushkin:
"posting of (anaconda's) "for sale" eBay offerings on this forum as "eye candy" pictures is a practice that I dislike. Those posts should
be posted on the BST forum. Vendors should stop trying to turn this forum into an electronic billboard to peddle their wares. Post that
you have coins on BST, that seems OK, BUT STOP POSTING PICTURES OF YOUR COINS THAT ARE FOR SALE - THAT IS WRONG. "
But I'm not into making anyone mad, and you knew that, so.....
i will no longer post pictures of coins that i currently have for sale even though i have tried to only post pictures of what i believe to be
really, really cool coins that most people would enjoy seeing but wouldn't buy anyway, regardless of how cool they are because they're too
expensive for most people, (myself included; go ask my wife) and this is so even though i have gotton many thanks for posting cool
pictures of cool coins that are for sale....
Cool? Good. Glad to make your day, Puskin and the rest who feel like him (and i can understand where they're coming from.)
And i suspect that some people will think that i'm a woosie because i let Pushkin influence me, but i'm not into irritating
people if there's no good reason, although i really do believe that i posted cool pictures of cool coins for basically the same reasons why others do too who are not offering them for sale....
Now, i suspect that if i put up a picture of a coin that i owned and sold, there are going to be some people who complain about that too.
"He's still only promoting himself." (Whiners certainly aren't R8s, are they?)
Well, you can't please all of the people all of the time.

Didn't you once post something about 'chunks of guys like you in my stool'?
Sorry Adrian, I couldn't resist.

This is a hobby that involves buying and selling, unless all you do is pick through your pocket change.
Thanks for sharing with us, Mr. Anaconda!

Yea, but after you left his table, he told me, "my cat could beat up his cat".

For a self-described "self-made man" you sure are childish.
A work in progress, I suppose?

...and yes, i am childish....in many ways....and i am not ashamed of it.....at least not all of it!

BTW, what's that mean?
I didn't think that i was annoying too many people but a friend of mine, who is a dealer, said that in essence, it was innappropriate, so,
i will modify my behavior. No great loss.
Besides, I really don't want to annoy anyone unless there is a purpose to it.
I woulda bought some.
Perhaps this is a non-issue with most of you, fine. As for Mr. Anaconda as a person, he was polite and courteous to me at the Baltimore show, and very knowledgeable. I enjoyed looking at his coins, and he was interesting to talk to - my only personal experience with him, and definitely positive.
However, it is up to the members. I would prefer that BST stay there, but that is just my opinion. It is not an issue worth a lot of flaming posts - besides, it's only Wednesday!
Someone start a poll on this matter.
No offense Steve.
Just because Adrian sells most if not all of his coins makes no difference whether he should post pictures of his coin in this forum. We all know he sells his coins, he's mainly a dealer. does he tell us that the coin is for sale NOPE! Do we know they are for sale? yes
Do most of the people who look at this forum want to see killer coins, I bet so, take a vote.
Adrian:
I would not let one person change your posting habits (as I am sure you would have done this anyhow). If Puskin wants to take a poll then if you are reading this Puskin then go ahead and see what the vote is.
edited to add that I was writing this post while puskin answered the post above
My opinion
Well unless I start trying to figure out how to get a gazillion dollars up for one
If you can't find out on this forum, where can you?
Edited to change "thread" to "forum"

By the same token, I love looking at Anaconda's coins, and learning a little more about them in his threads. Believe me, looking at them here is the closest I'll ever get to owning some of tho$e $uper toner$!

What am i gonna do...have her hold a coin that i sold?
She's gone, dudes. Thank Pushkin.
no way dude, it's too late....i can't go back on my word now....i'd look like a......snake or something.....
You should post the pictures after you sell them, along with a message "See what you suckers missed out on".
I find when I buy an expensive coin, I take a picture and put it in the safe deposit box.
It's a lot cheaper just to save your pictures in my virtual coin collection.

Hey Roy...which ones do you lack and in what grade do you seek?
(and by the way, I don't have any decent ones right now so my question is just more of which toughies in a long series have eluded a obviously dedicated collector."
adrian
I, personally, don't give a rat's rump if you post your coins here because I like to look at coins! (I figure you are into snakes and have likely seen more than a few rats' rumps disappearing down snakes' gullets, so the allusion was OK with you.) But, if you start posting them on the bst board, please put a little post on this board so that I can quickly flip to the bst board and take a look at them.
I think your coin pictures are absolutely wonderful and have saved a few to my hard drive so that I can look at them when I wish....especially your MS63 Pan Pac. But, I certainly can see Pushkin's point: I don't want every dealer posting mediocre pictures of their mediocre coins on this board. But I don't want to miss out on Adrian's pictures.... So, I guess I am conflicted about this thread.
Mark
please read my post above and think about it.
Personally, I liked the coins you posted here. As long as you didn't post them with a price of *direct* link to the eBay auction, then who cares. We all post pictures of coins we think are cool.
AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH .......thats what i drool over who care's about the coin's
<< <i>"then I withdraw my objection. " no way dude, it's too late....i can't go back on my word now....i'd look like a......snake or something..... >>
I think you may have misinterpreted the "withdrawl". I have no desire to start a lot of flames. As for the practice of posting coins currently for sale, I still believe that is wrong. You have nice coins and a lot of people apparently like to see them - fine. My suggestion was that they be posted on BST until sold, but do as many others do here, post that there are coins available over there. Your posts haven't been blatant, in your face, and I never acused you of such action, or suggested that you "go back on your word".
The objection is NOT with you, personally. Do we want 5 or 25 dealers to start posting pictures of coins they have for sale? The junk will eventually dominate the space. I'm not making any apologies for my post, but I have no desire to start a "flaming thread" over the issue.
I never asked you to "go back on your word", and I'm sure you are an honorable person - nothing in my posts ever implied otherwise.
So no more pics at all eh? As others have said, all coins are for sale, that's how we get them.
No matter what you do. Speak, keep quiet, live, die, wink, or smile somebody is offended.
Fark it.
If these dealers are posting monsters or special coins, then why not. If they're posting generic crap, then we can run them off.
Besides, I don't recall Adrian posting a direct link to the coin for sale near the picture.
If you see a thread title that you don't like:
Modern vs. Classic
Toning vs. white
Doctoring vs. natural
Awsome coin picture

Troll of the week
Then just skip it. We each like different things. Those that want to read them can...those that don't ....don't have to. I don't post a lot, but I lurk probably five times a day. If I see a thread that I might enjoy then I read it. If I see one I don't enjoy..then I don't.
I do get tired of all the threads about what is or shouldn't be acceptable on the board. I'm really not into toned coins or the debates on doctoring...so I just skip them. That's great that there are a large number of others that enjoy those topics.....then they should post and read those threads. It doesn't mean I have to read them and then complain.
My opinion and five cents can get you a wheat penny...so take it with a grain of salt....but I did want to get this off of my chest.
By the way...I like Anaconda's pictures and look forward to them. If I didn't ...I just wouldn't read the thread and go on about my own business.
Let's keep having fun!!
Please don't stop posting pics of your beautiful coins, I love looking at them I don't care if they are for sale or not they are amazing peices of history i mean how many proof peace dollars are there? i know the one you posted was the first one i've ever seen. please don't take this away from me.
This pisses me off.
Adrian posts photos of really, really cool coins. I thoroughly enjoy looking at them. I do not care if they are for sale or not.
Although we know they are, I have never seen him advertise them for sale.
The few of you who object to posting photos of coins that are currently for sale have ruined it for the rest of us who enjoy Adrian's postings.
If you don't like it, DON'T READ THE THREAD!!! How hard would it be to do that?
Adrian, please continue to post your wonderful photos for those of us who enjoy them.
I don't mind his pics. I'll stop there

Hey Lucy, I finally got my uncle's Franklin half collection. It wasn't too bad, but not big winners in the set. Your information regarding characteristics by date and mint mark a few weeks ago was very helpful. I have a printed copy in my library.....seriously. As for the set, I sold it for $320 to a dealer in Springfield.

Then why did you become a lawyer?
I like it when you post the pics. It gives me a chance to see some real cool coins up close that I wouldn't normally and I find it very educational. Please continue with your irritating practice.
BTW. I too refuse to grow up.

We have a winner!!!
