Luster is much better than scan. Honesty please

If the luster is decent, 64 seems low to me. Pictures are always tough, but it looks pretty mark free. I'd say it is very nice for the grade.

I forgot to add, I love toned Franklins.

Really hard to tell from these scans, but my intial impressions are this piece was pulled from a original mint set and has that type of toning... I can't really see any hits or rub from those photos, this could be a great upgrade candidate... but, I need a better image...

Before I offer an opinion, please answer the following questions:

    1. Do you get weepy when watching sad movies?
    2. Were you potty trained early or late?
    3. Do you sleep well, or are you prone to wake frequently during the night?
    4. Are you on any mood altering medications?
    5. When you were in school, and received a low grade on a paper, how did you respond?

  • Don't want to bash your coin to much but by looking at the pics the toning is pretty nasty, does it really look that bad or are there colors that don't show up in the pic? otherwise it looks great where do i send the money?

    MadMonk,

HMM...no definitive read on sensitivity level can be assessed from your answers. I'll just have to say that 1955 is an excellent year.

The 55 Frankie for some reason suffered from very dark and drab toning (the halves pulled from mint sets)....... It is very tough to find one that is brilliant in a ms65 or better........ But it is very easy to score one thats brilliant in a ms64, most of these come from rolls, but suffer from bagmarks galore thus dropping them to a 4 or lower...

You are being too politically correct. Obviously from a critique taken from a certain snake.

  • yep, a lot of dark drab toning on 55. The reverse on this piece is really nice. really decent luster, and color is more vibrant than the pictures show. I think a FBL to boot. I really feel that it could go 65.

  • I've noticed that it is really hard to find a 55 with "nice" toning usually it's been dipped or it's extreamly dark, this one is right in the middle.
This is a major upgrade for me the 55 i have now is a VG
can't wait to see it I'll post a few pics of it to just because i like playing with the camera.

I know this type of deep toning isn't for everyone but as long as you've got a fair amount of luster showing through I like image.

  • Lucy, I own the piece. Toning is medium, and coin imho is pq. I do think 65 is a shot but I'm not positive, hence I won't spend the money. I am almost positive that PCGS would FBL it.
Mbbiker has stated an interest, so he has first dibs. If he doe get a 65 fbl, more power to him. here is an orange one that I have in 65
