pretty dollar. PCGS65? tough to just go by an image on screen, i'd be very surprised if it was lower than 64 with that nice clean cheek and overall eye apeal, likewise, tough to imagine it a 67 without seeing the luster and taking a loupe to that eagle breast and a few scattered marks.

are we allowed to ask what she cost?

  • I'll go with 65, assuming the breast strike is sharper than what it appears in the scan...

ms-67, usual disclaimer on digi-pic luster.

I'm going to buck the trend and say 64. Your images are scans, and on toned coins scans sometimes hide marks. Also, PCGS is very tough on the early S mints. I could be all wet, you know how hard it is to tell by a scan. No matter what the grade, it looks like nice color.
  • Looks 66 to me. Nice score!!

PCGS is usually tough on this issue as K6AZ mentioned, AND some peoples images seem to enhance certain characteristics, while others seem to mute characteristics. I personally, am still having trouble evaluating toned coins; although sometimes they are beautiful, being technical in nature (as to grading), I am somewhat biased when I cannot evaluate the underlying surface, particularly when I know the surface of an '81-S seems to hold a lot of significance with PCGS. With that said:

I'll take a guess that it may be graded 66; I simply can't see any marks on my monitor, and ordinarily, I'd see a mark free Morgan as 67, but I can't see if it is lustrous as one would expect of this issue AND I cannot see the details of the eagle's right toes (are those toes on a bird? image ) which I believe, should be apparent on a 66, but it is so mark free, I wouldn't (by the image) limit it to 65.

Now, if I am way off, and the coin doesn't have the detail I thought it did, hopefully, you guys won't think I'm a putz; I tried to justified why I chose that grade. image

edited to add: If it were in mine, I might be even more critical. Sometimes I think I expect too much, when a coin hits gem status. image

    Nice Morgan!
The strike is all there with a few hits on this common in high grade model so I'm thinking 65ish but since it's an attractive toned example maybe 66ish.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • MS66 or MS67?????

Looking for Nationals, Large VF to AU type, 1928 Gold, and WWII Emergency notes. Also a few nice Buffalo Nickels and Morgan Dollars.

  • Don't know what color correction is? Coin looks like a 67 all day long. would need to see it tilted with a good light to be sure.

MS -66. Soft eagle feathers, nice color even though you adjusted it.

Overall , very pleasing Morgan Dollar.
There once was a place called
    Camelotimage
  • the hits between the N and U make it at the very best a 66 but since scanned photos mask small nicks I STILL give it a 65

MS66 surfaces and color, can't really tell about the luster, reverse breast feathers look less than full. Appears to be PCGS graded. Seems overall to be MS65 (PQ).
  • MS 67
    My proof Jeffs

This scan is pathetic, I think my next project is going to be a serious lesson in digital photography.

It got a 67 with that huge field mark next to the 2nd U in Unum?

    image
  • Its nice but I agree with prooflike about the ding between the u and m. Must have got a bump for eye appeal because it sure is some nice eye candy! image
