Are Barber half dollars smaller than other halves?

It seems every Barber Half I have ever placed in a Dansco album has had plenty of room to spin around in the designated hole. This is not the case with Bust, Seated, Walking Liberty, Franklins or Kennedys, even well worn specimens of other halves don't spin. Why is this the case with Barbers? Was Chas. Barber shorting the amount of silver in the halves and designed the coin about a half millimeter smaller?

Just a question about a constant source of irritation.

Barbers are usually found worn and thus have a slightly diminished size. Put a VF or higher in the album and you will have to put some pressure to get it in. My VG set always moves as do a few in my Fine set. My VF and Higher set are firm like they are stuck in concrete. They are all in Dansco albums also
