Need the scoop on 1837 bust half dime.


Bought the half dime yesterday,it was graded au55 by seller,looks like a some what miss handled unc.I have a breens book but that all on half dimes.The seven is repunched,the five on the reverse has an extra top bar in front of it.Can someone id this coin with such little info?Coin is "large five"type.

Coin has a nice target type tone to it.Will post pic tomorrow.Thanks for any insight.

Payed $175. for it.

    likely a lm-1, the most common large-5 variety, featuring the 7 repunched south

    if it were a lm-2 or lm-3, you would have a rare coin, but those do not feature a rpd.

    the common lm-5 also has a large-5, but again, no rpd.

    bottom-line: lm-1 r1.
