However, i have since decided not to do that again for the simple reason that we have enough people posting here, in my opinion.
In fact, i suspect that this place will become another rec.collecting.coins eventually populated by people wanting to know how much their peace dollar error coin is worth because "TRVST" is misspelled.
What i would like to do is start a new board by invitation only.

LOL, just so you know, that's all I would want.

Good idea, but what if after you started this new board they didn't invite you back.

not hard to do. You can license the software from infopop which is easy to use and setup and make a part of your website. Invite only those you feel are "worthy", and then by all means stay there and the two or three of you can pat yourselves on the back (or wherever) day and night.
I am sure there are a number of dealer elitists who would welcome the opportunity not to have to mix with pain in the [forbidden word] collectors and dealer "wannabes". Perhaps you can put a minimum coin value on membership.
(By the way, i liked your post. Stimulating.)
"and the two or three of you can pat yourselves on the back (or wherever)"
I thought that was particularly creative.

And a warning to all....death is the penalty to any who dare mention that the Emporer has no clothes!

hey adrian, the only thing wrong with your initiative is that it would be too exclusive, when what's really needed in the world is an attitude which lends itself to inclusion. the more ideas welcomed, the more growth possible. the events taking place on the world stage highlight this magnificently. certainly you should understand that with a select number at a coin discussion site the topics would slowly spiral until the inclusion of more participants was necessary to avoid implosion. also, this is what seems to be taking place on my aforementioned stage. bigger, greater, larger and more open rules the day now as it always has and will.
i don't think it's a coincidence that in America, where openness and free thought are encouraged and all are asked to participate, life speeds forward. in other less open countries, well, need i say more??
long live this forum, even when it gets too crowded.
al h.

providing "stimulation" wasn't the goal, and I think I can speak for most in requesting the part which you found most "stimulating" be kept as your own little secret.
