  • Just out of curiosity, will the cost of submitting all of those "coins" result in a profit to you, or will you lose money on the deal? Is there another reason for the mass submission? I have considered slabbing a few coins with PCGS, but I just can't follow through with it. My intuition tells me it's not a good idea. Thanks, Ed
  • All of those and no 70's. It would be interesting to get notes from the grader on why a 69 coin isn't a 70. I'd pay extra for that.
    I have icon envy.

Good invoices. That 1996 set was a killer. Pretty nice comms too.

  • shocker,

you're not alone. I too would like to get some insight into why a seemingly perfect coin doesn't make the grade. I have submitted about 50 moderns in the last 6 months without a 70. Not even my cherry picks made the cut. Of course I’m a newbie so that's not surprising I don't suppose.

  • Ed-

Your initution that it's not a good idea is correct. With the ecomony and crossovers, I'm doing it for my type sets.

I'm doing 3 things with modern submissions:

    1) Playing
    2) Liquidating some moderns
    3) Buying PR70DC lotto tickets.

Profit? Well I may not be able to retire selling this batch, but it should be enough to pay for a new car.

I'll keep the 2002 25c set as an extra and the 1996 proof set was for somebody else. I have no desire or need for 5 1999 SBA's so I'll give those to the nice people on eBay along with the others.

If anybody wants an 1999 SBA $ PR69DC for $21 shipped send me a PM

I just received an email a few hours ago saying I had a submission graded. I went to check and was so displeased because I sent in a coin which I thought was an MS67 and a Clash Die Error, but the variety is blank and it was an ms65. So, I sent an email to confirm this that this is a typing error (no reply yet). Now I feel dumb. I check the certification number and it comes up with the correct variety of Clash Die Obv/Rev. That is cool. This is just something I thought would be cool to just have, but I did not expect an MS65. MS66 maybe but I could have sworn this was an MS67. Oh well. Maybe next time.

That's one of the most profound statements i've heard here in a while! I wonder if the odds are about equal to winning the real lottery? image

  • but it should be enough to pay for a new car

Relayer, are you serious? If you can buy a new car by submitting modern coins to PCGS then I want to play this game too!

I too am curious re: the new car statement.

SemprFi: Did you pay the extra five bucks for attribution?
