I posted a reply over there - didn't really tell you what to do with this customer though - as a buyer, it seems somewhat confusing (especially if you don't know the different paypal levels)

  • Thanks for the reply.

  • I get a retirement check every month because I made a good living for many years dealing with from people who don't read their contracts image - and the E-Bay contract includes all that stuff you put in about restrictions, like where you ship to, whether you take credit cards, etc. In my (retired) professional opinion your position is completely justified, BUT one reason consumer contracts of all kinds have become the paper, ink, and printing salesman's best lines is that every time something like this comes up, the lawyers add more words, and emphasize more things. image If I were you I would eliminate all of PayPal's own buttons and notices, and put text in your listing stating that you accept PayPal, and telling the bidders to e-mail you for the PayPal ID. If you do that, make sure neither of your IDs appear anywhere on the posting.

Sometimes you have to make your policies EXTREMELY obvious. Even with that big red print, I still occasionally get a bidder that tries to pay with a credit card.

NOTE: Not the bidder in the linked auction, though.

  • The two email accounts is confusing, however, I'm of the opinion that Paypal should fix those logos and the payment options so that you get a warning or something about sending a cc payment to someone's who's account cannot currently accept.

Paypal should be leading this effort, but won't because they like those cc fees they collect.

NO more for me. Tough %&*@ to paypal.
