I've been watching the Superior Pre-LongBeach Auction - Has anyone ever been successful bidding live

It seems to me you have to bid before the floor auction begins. the action is just too fast for computer bidding after it starts.

I was successful the last time I tried. It seems like it goes too fast but you have to be quick with the mouse. I won the lot on a dial up connection (???!!!!). I put this down to luck of the bid, I'm sure it would faster with a cable modem. It seems as if the technology is almost there for this to work (but not quite).

  • Why would anyone bid on a SUperior auction to begin with?!! Online no less? Got vasoline?!image
  • Anyone got a link to the live viewing? Thanks.

Was just watching it to see what those three CC dimes would go for...enough time to bid on those but not so on many others.

Do not fall into the error of the artisan

while in fact he has had only one year of experience...
    twenty times.

I simply placed my bids ahead and did not bother trying to maintain once the auction began. Bid on two 1827 halves, one a near gemoinwith nice toning and the other an AU. Even though my bids were well within the estimates both coins ended up selling for close to 30% over the high pre-sale estimates. If those two were any indication then the auction must have been very successful for Superior - especially since they were getting a 20% buyers fee no less.

    What does that mean?
I haven't bid on this one, but I bid on the last Superior auction. I did it via fax, though. If you bid through Ebay, you pay an extra 5% juice. Transaction was easy. Paid by credit card, had coin about 5 days later.

In response to the reply above concerning "why would anyone bid on a Superior auction".....my response is why not? Is there a problem with Superior auctions that I don't know about? It seems that they offer coins for people to bid on. As much as it pains people to hear, I really don't care who is selling the coin (as long as prior or expected business dealings are proper).
  • I had two or three coins I was interested in..hesitated to place the bids before the auction so I was goint to maybe bid today. It sure goes fast though!

Agreed....just like a real auction, not for weak hearts. You definitely "snooze you loose" on these.
