Needed! New Varieties for The Cherrypickers' Guide 4th Ed, Volume Two!
Volume Two of the Fourth Edition of The Cherrypickers' Guide will be at the printer in early May, and we expect distribution to begin as soon as copies start to arrive from the bindery. That will likely be in late May or early June.
However, there is still plenty of time to include new and dramatic varieties to this reference. This second volume will include half dimes through dollars, gold and commems. In addition, we will add a few extremely dramatic varieties from cents through nickels that should have been included in Volume One. Those varieties, that should have been included with the first volume, will be included as an addendum in the back of the book. But more importantly, for those listings, we will only consider very dramatic varieties, as space will be very limited.
New varieties for the Second Volume (again, half dimes through dollars, gold and commems) are eagerly sought. I have an opening of about 6 weeks in which to get these included. But we do know and realize that there are a lot of varieties that are important, and should be included. We definitely want to include any and all varieties that in fact are important, dramatic, or interesting.
If a variety is to be included, I would need access to one of the coins for photos, and certainly will need as much descriptive information for each variety as possible, including details of the variety, estimated rarity, values in 3-4 grades for that variety, some census information if possible, and any other information of importance. We'd also like to note other reference materials in which the variety may have been featured or mentioned.
I'd like to add here that I do expect the second volume to be larger than the first volume. Its amazing to me just how many new varieties that will be included in this new volume.
If you have any information or varieties to share, please write before sending any coins. All contributions and offers of contributions are greatly appreciated. I can be reached best by e-mail at: jtstanton@aol.com. Or if necessary, via snail mail to: J. T. Stanton, P. O. Box 15487, Savannah, GA 31416-2187.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

You may want to establish a timeframe for discovery of varieties, so folks know up to which date you already have. Why? You already have certain varieties up to, say, after publication date of the 3rd edition, right. It just may not be obvious to everyone that some varieties were previously listed; that is unless you are starting fresh.
Thanks for your note.
However, there is no certain date to which we cut off. All one has to do is look at a third edition. If they don;'t have a third edition, they are not likely interested in varieties.
But the fact si that is we said we had varieties up to 1964, what would happen if someone came up wioth a new, dramatic variety from 1963? We'd love out oj that one, and so would everyone else.
There always a chance that someone suggest a variety that is not in the third edition, but that I alreayd have set aside for the fourth edition. Simply put, its too much work to list all those varieties that I am planning to add.
I'm hoping that people will simply make suggestions, and I can tell them yes or no. I can tell you that already today, at least two significant varieties have come to light that will be listed, as a result opf this thread.
Thansk again for your comments.
