Photoshop toning??

I want to add a few toned coins to my collection and i'm looking at RAW coin on E-bayimage There are tons of interesting coins, my question on this one is does this type of toning happen or is this a clear case of photoshop?

I don't know, you may be surprised. Looks like he got a good reflection, and I doubt the coin actually looks like that. But, he has over 1000 positives with no negatives, a return policy, and you can't beat the price.
  • I seriously doubt that is photoshop enhanced. It could be the lighting.

Pretty cool coin though, I think I'll snipe it! image

He took a good image, but I would bet the coin does look similar to that under certain lighting conditions and angles.

A word of warning; with PCGS currently grading in a chaotic and inconsistent manner I have had several proof Lincoln cents with that toning get bagged by PCGS for AT while other proof Lincoln cents with that toning were slabbed. I even brought the coins with me to FUN and submitted them to the graders to look at and they didn't care, they were going to bag them if they felt like it.

    Beware of PCGS!

  • OK, i guess i'll take a chance on these, now that i made the mistake of showing the auction to everyone i'll end up paying twice as much as i would have otherwise.
