Blue Haze Gold

The Blue Haze gold can be found on high end mint state and proof gold coins that have been doctored and have started to turn.
I am surprised that this has never come up in the great "Coin Doctoring" debates. Perhaps the grading services have already cleaned up the majority of these coins.
I have seen MS67 and PF67 coins with the blue haze.
To me these cannot possible be original.

Sorry, I didn't understand what you were talking about.

When you said Blue Gold I thought you were refering to GOLD coins that was toned BLUE.image

I'd pay money to see that.

I want to thank you for the nice things that yousaid in another thread. I tried to PM you and even tried on your web site, but PM is not available and I'm not sure that the contact works on the Sahara site. Best wishes

What was the nature of the doctoring - dipping? Sure would like to see a picture if available.

John: Please show us a picture if you have one. What kind of doctoring was done to these coins that later made them turn blue?

Also, isn't it possible the COPPER that is present in gold coins could create some sort of green/blueish toning. I have a couple of pieces (NOT high end for sure...62's or so) $10 Indians that have such toning. Just curious....

    Thanks

Sorry, but I have never owned one of the blue hazed coins that used to show up in major auctions and inside the grading room.
I also do not know how it was done or even had a discussion on the techniques with a "coin doctor".
Since I no longer attend the major auctions, I would not know what direction to send you to see a picture.
Hopefully one will show up at the shop so that I can send pictures.
