Why aren't Lib head (V) nickels called Barber Nickels?

Just to make it easier to refer to the complete Barber set!

  • Because they are not the same design?

But it's the same designer, "Barber" in dime, quarter and half refers to the designer not design.

Charles Barber was nasty & ugly. The dime, quarter, and half he designed is nasty & ugly. Therefore, Barber dimes, Barber quarters, etc.

I don't like him because he was always giving George T a hard time. image

Charles Barber gave everyone a hard time. He ruined many coin designs and had them changed or flattened.

Somehow, I still like the V-nickels. The giant V was a first so they get the name the V nickel. Barber should have quit after designing this coin. Everyone else at the mint would have been happier.

Yeah CB & his dad thought they owned the place. I like the vnic too. I only do chase 1897 ones but they are really hard to find without streaky ugly toning. I think it's easier to find a nice barber than a nice vnic.
