OK the 75 wax pack is open....

Well I got the whole family to watch me open the pack. The results are mixed.

The bad news: No one to write home about in the pack. Centering is an issue.

The good news: The overall condition of the cards is great. Condition wise they all rate a 9 with the exception of one that has a slight touch on one corner.

Here's how it breaks down:

#19 Jerry Koosman - looks like a 9
#25 Lee May - might be a 9 if the centering passes
#59 Ken Henderson - looks like a 9
#202 1964 MVPs (Robinson/Boyer) - might be a 9 if the centering passes
#208 1970 MVPs (Powell/Bench) - looks like a 9
#395 Bud Harrelson - probably an 8 becuse of centering
#522 Gary Sutherland - might be a 9 if the centering passes
#555 Al Oliver - 8 because of corner (although I've sen 10's with this kind of corner) maybe even 7 with centering
#560 Tony Perez - might be a 9 if the centering passes, probably an 8
#643 Brent Storm - 8 centering

All I can hope for is a benevolent grader..

I am glad I did this. It was fun. The difference in $s is not even worth thinking about. Thanks for all your encourgement.

As far as how much I paid; I don't remember. It was years ago and I don't keep track of profits or losses. Some purchases stay in your mind (like the 1960 cello pack I got for $225, $25 more than the other packs the guy had because it showed Drysdale and Cepeda) but this one does not.

An update on card #202. It is definitely an 8. Just noticed a slight ding on one edge.

I cannot for the life of me understand the attraction of unopened packs. Even if you had totally bombed, which you didn't, I think you did the right thing by opening it. I understand EVEN LESS this new GAI thing for sealed, graded unopened packs. Different strokes, I guess.

Sorry mrc32, Tony was a pain in the neck for my Dodgers. Just kidding. A hall of famer for sure. I just meant none of the stars mentioned earlier in the orginal post. I apologize for the oversight. The big red machine was truly one of the best teams put on the field at one time.
