hey meanie, just an observation so dont fly off...but for an approaching 2 yr anniversary on the choke u would you say some 18,000+ posts is maybe slightly obsessing ? hell, that's 25 or more post per every day of the year for 2 years....
For the record, I have bought and submitted coins from Randy (seller) in the past and never had one come back in a body bag. Most of them being Franklins. This particular coin has some very unusual toning and was curious what your opinions were. I'm not really interested in your opinions of the seller, just the coin.
Doops said a paper flip caused it. I'll agree with that & the 58 but my first thought was the paper flap from a Whitman folder but that would have made the tone on the obv right? It's weird looking, I like weird patterns like that. I've seen Morgans with lines across them from tape, glue and other things in PCGS & NGC slabs so I don't think that would preclude it from being holdered. The color is probably just a little less wild & vivid first hand and I think it would probably slab.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
This Seller has me stumped. His coins look like they can't/shouldn't be 'real' yet the three raw toned coins I've purchased from him all holdered out with PCGS. (Greg- I still owe you a lunch over the wager that one neon blue/maroon Morgan would go MS65 when you correctly stated MS64! It PCGS'ed at 64 and it was one of this was this Seller's coin.)
Maybe it's just hit and miss and I got lucky, X's3.
Rick- There's not many collectors here that appreciate those dull, boring Washingtons and even fewer that want to touch the AT ? but send a PM to TomB the toned quarter is what he specializes in and he's really sharp and will give you a valid opinion on the coin.

id say it has 50% probability of being "real" and 50% probability of being "AT"
put another way, an interesting coin, common date, uncommon look, common grade (might make low MS, probably not as high as the seller claims) regardles of which binary decision PCGS or NGC might make on any given day (binary= 1 or 0, slab or bag)

If I had it my way, stupidity would be painful!

Those who thought it was AT were wrong. Those who thought it was AU were also wrong.

And the seller who thought it was MS67-68 was also wrong.

True that.

Just becasue it is slabbed does not mean it is not AT.

Very true and, judging by your handle, DoctorOfTone, you'd probably know.
