If your set is 10% or less complete you might be kicked off...please read....

Just got this via email from Registry news...what do you think????

Every month, we will delete sets that are over a year old and less than
10% complete which have not been updated for over a year. If for some
reason you are maintaining a set that you have never sent in for
validation, the system does not indicate to us if you have been
updating
it. Therefore, if the set falls into the less than 10% complete
category and is over a year old, it will be deleted. If you do not
want
your set deleted, please send it through for validation at your
earliest
convenience.

This is something that has been done for some time. I think they're notifing collectors now instead of letting it be a surprise when it happens. The key is to let them know if you "don't" want your set deleted.

I'm working on a Three Cent Silver set they may be a little tougher to finish than I thought. It's hard to find nice examples in the grades I want. I believe it's about 25% complete now. With the other sets I'm working on, it may be a while until I focus primarily on trimes. Therefore, I may elect to delete my set. At least until I get it a little further along.

I think if you have a set that is less than 10% complete and you have had no activity in the last year, then it is reasonable delete the set.

Unless is it a gold proof set or similarly extremely expensive set, performing a single transaction in a year is not unreasonable. It reduces the overhead in managing all those sets that have a single coin. There are type sets if you want one of a bunch of different coins.

This is nothing new and those untouched sets are just clogging up their server.

  • I support the idea of if you have a set that is less than 10% complete and you have had no activity in the last year, it will be deleted. No make sense have hundreds of sets registered with 1 or 2 coins.

  • Makes a lot of sense. On Modern's I would support 15%-20%, with the exception of high dollar sets, such as gold or platinum.
