Congrats Randy ( 54 - 55 Topps Hockey )

There is a new # 1 set for 1954 - 55 Topps Hockey on the set registry. This is one of the best looking and most difficult hockey sets to complete in high grade out there. The condition sensitive borders make it very difficult in PSA 8 or better.

I have purchased cards from StarRJM and he is a class act. I believe he posts here from time to time.

Congrats Randy on an excellent job...

While I was putting together my 1954 baseball set, I would run across these cards often. Very cool set.

Currently collecting.....your guess is as good as mine.
  • I entertained the idea of putting this set together after picking up about 10 cards in PSA 8. Then something happened.
They ceased to exist. There was a period of about 4 years when I never found them anymore. I actually quit trying.
A few months ago I decided to check ebay out every week or so, I saw a couple, but the commons were fetching $200.00 plus.
I loved picking them up for under $100.00. But it looks like time caught up with me. There's no way the secret of this awesome set could keep cards that cheap for very long.

    Congrats!!

Thanks for the kind words and congrats on the set. I started collecting this set in graded form in 2000 and like interchange stated they dried up. From January 2001 until July 2002 there were only 7 8's offered on ebay. The higher prices have flushed out a few on the market in 2002-2003. Its one of the only sets i know you can pay 3 times SMR and walk away thinking you got a deal.
The set is still a work in process and i hope to make some more upgrades. My set is now at the point that some luck is needed 5 of the 8 cards i need in 8 have pops less than 5. Finding 9's is like finding gold . Only 31 9's have ever been graded and only 1 in the past 3 years. I own 3 of the 31 9's and would love to add more .

Its a set that i sacrificed alot of other cards including a 62-63 Parkhurst completely graded set, some nice 53-56 PSA 8 Topps Basebal l to upgrade but i felt i really enjoyed the design of the set to do so.

I will be adding scans to the set in the upcoming weeks as well
for all interested to take a look at
