2002 10th oz. Platinum. The price seem to continue upward!

I was just looking at these things on ebay. Are they an instant rarity? last week I saw some go as low as $140. Now it looks like they will all hit $180 and beyond. 2002

While the mintage for the series isn't all that high (18,000), they are being submitted to the services by the carload. And while it's the lowest year mintage-wise for the $10, there are already 1604/3 for MS69/70 at PCGS and 1854/1006 for MS69/70 at NGC. Compare this with the 1998 $10 pop of only 56/1 and 126/0, PCGS and NGC respectively!!
Clearly, 2002 is a much better struck year, and the coin is actually quite plentiful for high grades. 1998 is the rariety. I think those 2002 prices will fall.

Also, as a side, Has anyone visited the Price Guide at PCGS site and studied the prices for the 2001 $25 proof Platinum? Is this an error?

You're right, Gotta be so. It isn't like they're going into coke machines. For the 1998, though, it DOES appear harder to get a 69 than for most of the other years.
