I like the obverse of both and the reverse of neither. Overall I prefer the first, with its clouds-and-ground look and less speckled (though more weakly struck) eagle. I also see some color peaking through that dark crescent toning that I would expect to be more apparent in person. The more I look at the second obverse, though, the more the streaky toning reminds me of rain sheeting down at an angle. This being my favorite commem design, I'd be happy to have either.
Thanks for the replies, folks. I find it interesting and amusing that this thread received more posts than some of the ones I have posted with REALLY pretty coins!
I believe that I might have made a mistake even starting the thread, as it turns out that the coins are more vibrant and attractive than portrayed in the images.
The first one is much more desirable to me - the color (which is probably the result of album toning and which is unquestionably original) on the upper and lower obverse is really pretty and the 2'd piece is a bit splotchy for me to even think about choosing it over coin #1. But, it's yet another good example of how different people prefer different looks.
Each piece is graded MS65, the first by NGC and the second, by PCGS.
If any of you are really looking for a nice Connecticut, I suggest you PM or email Bill Jones. He has two of them in stock, and they are both fantastic. I've seen the first coin in Mark's picture up close and personal, and it does look a bit more attractive in person, but more for its originality than actual color or beauty.

too much time alone, with your beautiful coins.

If I had to choose I would pick #2 because it looks like a better strike.
