  • Beautiful!

And to think you put they away yourself. That makes them special.
  • Considering you made them that makes them AT right?image J/K those are really nice coins, it must have been interesting watching them progress over the years.
  • Here is one that spent over 25 years in a Whitman!!!!

Thats a beauty,I can't capture the tone like you have..flat bed image, althou I did get close by tilting the coin, and leaving the top up resulting in background glare. That is a super scan.Al

Hey, no fair! I still have my blue penny folders from when I was a kid and none of them toned. Of course, that might be because they're all low grade circulated stuff.image

  • I have a set of UNC Jeffersons in a Whitman that are starting to tone around the rim, especially where the slide didn't completely cover the coin. Turning an nice light golden color. The amazing part is they have only been a set in the folder for about 3 years! In a safe, no smokers... I wonder what the trick is?

  • I have noticed the exact same thing with my Whitman Classic folders...have been adding pages to a half dollar holder, and on the newer pages which I bought about 3 years ago, the coins are all toning - very evenly in most cases, and a golden color. Most of the coins in the new pages are also newer issues...commems in Unc & proof. I can't figger if it's the new coins or the new pages, but the older halves that I put into the folder about 10-12 years ago show no changes, or they're so subtle I haven't noticed. Also have kept the holders in a safe, with a canister of little silica gel packets and charcoal pkts to absorb moisture.

  • Thats the exact same thing that is happening with my nickels. Most of the older ones are relatively unchanged from what I can tell. The newer ones are toning on the last page or two. However, I bought the album with all the pages (no additions) so it appears to be something up with the newer coins.

This may sound crazy,but...You think it may be the region were you live ,humidityVS dry climate, the moisture will settles on the coin, not noticable till yrs later, were a dry climat will have no effect,or little?.Just a wild guessimage.Al
