Reaching Set Reg% = Free Grading?

I remember there being a discussion some time ago about receiving free grading vouchers
once you reached a certain % within your registered set (75%?).
Was this just wishing on our part or is this now PSA policy?
I have reached 82% on my 55 Bowman FB set.
Thanks.

'tis true. the number of free gradings you get varies from one to five, depending on the size of your set. if you go to the registry link, i think there's a tab at the top under "benefits" or something like that that explains the rules.

Ask Zardoz, I think he knows something about these alleged free gradingsimage
  • Here you go:

Free Grading. We recognize that not every card in every important collection has been graded by PSA. In order to encourage participation in the PSA Set Registry program when your set reaches 75% complete, you are entitled to the following free grading benefits:

If the set composition is 1-50 cards you are entitled to 1 free grading.
If the set composition is 51-150 cards you are entitled to 2 free gradings.
If the set composition is 151-300 cards you are entitled to 3 free gradings.
If the set composition is 301+ cards you are entitled to 5 free gradings.
Free gradings are for cards within the set that has reached 75% completion. All cards must be submitted at one time. If your set has reached 75% complete, please contact setregistry@collectors.com for an authorization code. No free gradings will be permitted without this authorization code, so be sure to write the number down on the top of your submission form.

  • I had read this before on the message boards and always wondered. I forgot about it when I passed the 75% mark on my '70 Topps Baseball set. I just emailed PSA to request my free submission authorization code. image

Thanks for the post carew4me, and thanks for the info JeffVN.

Here's the link to the benefits if anyone else is interested.

Thanks again. Hopefully I'll hear back from PSA soon.

I sent out a request for my free gradings for 1961-62 Fleer Basketball and the very next day Gayle contacted me with my ID code. I submitted the cards on my last invoice - a BGS 7 Kerr IA that was graded when BGS first began grading cards and a SCD 6.5 Bob Pettit IA that got a 6 for centering (could not figure that out). Both came back a PSA 8.

That was a good free submission. You have to be happy about that. I plan on cracking one SGC 88 that sure looks PSA 8 condition for my freebie. The other 4 will be raw - hoping for 9's on these. I'll post results when I get them.

The free grading offer is outstanding and Gayle is great, very prompt in her responses. The reason I like the bonus program so much is I was awarded 2 free grades for my 1936 S&S Game set, to me it was no big deal, as I needed 3 cards at that time and didn't have any raw ones to submit. So I grabbed 2 raw cards I had soley to get the free grades. Both cards were common players, and one the Floyd Young came back the coveted PSA-10 grade, the ONLY PSA-10 ever graded in that set. I thought the card would garner an "8", but since the corners on these cards are rounded and not square, it totally caught me by surprise. Without the free grading offer, the raw cards would still be sitting in my box, by the way, the other card came back a "5", it had a wrinkle on the card back...Jay

  • I received my authorization code today. I have some work to do this weekend now - selecting the 5 best raw cards that I still need to finish my set.

Thanks again for the post. I had totally forgotten about the freebies.
