NGC Guarantees Copper Interesting

This is quite interesting...thought I would pass it along... What do you think....Jon
[Florida] ¾ Numismatic Guaranty Corporation of America (NGC) today announced that it will begin offering a grading guarantee for copper, bronze and copper-nickel coins certified by NGC. This guarantee is available only for coins certified by NGC since adoption of its current generation holder. These are easily recognized by the words NUMISMATIC GUARANTY CORPORATION at the bottom of the grading label*. With respect to copper and bronze coins, the NGC Grading Guarantee expires ten (10) calendar years from the date of grading by NGC.
Copper and its alloys are highly reactive with the atmosphere and other environmental factors. For that reason NGC has not previously offered a grade guarantee for these coins. However, NGC’s newly introduced, hermetically sealed, state-of-the-art coin holder offers a much higher degree of protection against environmental factors than was previously possible, enabling NGC to offer grade guarantees for such coins.
NGC Vice-President Rick Montgomery elaborated on NGC’s expanded guarantee: “NGC is proud to extend its guarantee to those copper issues of United States and world coins. The same time-tested guarantee that collectors have come to appreciate when buying NGC certified silver, gold, platinum and nickel coinage can now be afforded to them with the extensive copper, bronze, and copper-nickel issues.” Montgomery added, “We look forward to an extremely positive market reaction, as collectors and dealers alike buy and trade these coins with even greater confidence. This will bring an added level of protection to all issues certified by NGC.”
NGC-certified coins encapsulated in NGC’s older holders may be submitted to NGC for a free evaluation by Numismatic Conservation Services, which has an arrangement with NGC to provide such evaluations. Submitters will be notified if NCS determines that conservation work is advisable. These coins will then be sent back to NGC for reholdering. NGC reserves the right to return coins in their existing holders if it believes that the coins’ grades cannot be guaranteed.
NGC may be contacted by writing to P.O. Box 4776, Sarasota, FL 34230 or by calling toll-free at 800-NGC-COIN (642-2646). NGC’s email address is Service@NGCcoin.com.
