My latest ebay purchase (for NCS)

I have the feeling I'll get hammered for buying this coin but I like the way it looks. Currently I got my associate membership with NGC (I needed that number) and I sent a packet to NCS so I can get theirs associate membership number. After that I can submit coins to NCS. My 1897 indian proof was feeling lonely awaiting shippment to NCS so I thought it could use a help from a fellow 1897 IHC.

my third NCS coin

Can't wait until it gets here!!!

it looks like a nice coin but the color looks un-natural to me. mike
edited to add- I think the spot will alway's be there to some extent even after cleaning
    1. Sigh. OK, I'll hammer you. At least I'm not worried about you NCS'ing an original coin. I think it has other issues besides that huge spot, looks like sombody already gave it a couple runs for it's money in the "conservation" department. I'm always surprised at people who have the NCS forms in hand before the coin is even delivered. Why don't you just find a nice one that doesn't need any help to begin with? Yes it's going to cost more than $49.50 but I think you will find that after a few lessons learned, you would have saved money if you just got a good one in the first place. Sorry but that's how I see it.

My guess is that you will hate the coin. It looks like it has been dipped. Also, there appears to be some corrosion on the reverse rim around 10 o'clock.

    4. I like it. The details are strong. The coin itself is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it, regardless of its conservation history. If I were more into IHC's, I'd have bought it. The ironic thing is that I think it would have gone for more if it were an original dark brown.
      I have icon envy.
    5. Looks to me to have been dipped more than once too. If the scan is right, NCS won't touch it IMO.
    6. Why don't you run it past a good, reputable dealer before you go for the NCS expense? Twowood
    7. Been dipped and recolored at least once already, plus the corrosion from 10-12 on the reverse - I doubt that NCS can do a whole lot with the coin image

      Thank you I needed that.

I don't know, I like Indian cents but for some unknown reason I like them impared (cleaned BU and so on but with a fantastic eye appeal like this one). I have no idea how to explain it. One day I'll post my injured indian cent collection.
