Toning/haze issue, can someone help me?

Hi,

I have a few silver coins that developed a milky blue/white haze over the last week or so. They have been stored in mylar flips (purchased from Stanton's) since I got them last fall. I received them in trade from a collector. I have NO idea what sort of conditions he stored them in, but I can see a print or 2 on a couple, so he may not have been as careful with them as I would have liked.

Does anyone have any idea what could have caused it, or what to do about it?

Thanks very much in advance for any thoughts/ suggestions/ advice.

Proofs or business strikes? I've seen this quite frequently on proofs. When first pulled from the packaging, they look pristine and beautiful, but later begin to develop bluish/white haze even when stored correctly. I don't know for sure, but I think it's because they weren't properly "finished" at the mint and exposure to the air causes the problems to materialize.

But, when this happens it usually does so in a matter of weeks, not months such as yours have done.

BU, NCLT silver. I have NEVER seen Britannias do this before! I have a few others that are fine. All mine are stored in the same place, under the same conditions. I even have them in an antique, air tight safe. The mirrored surfaces went all milky white fading to a deep blue in places. And it's just these 4 coins that I got in trade. Not bad colors on 2 of them, but I don't like it!

It did sort of remind me of the milky look you see on some proof coins though.
