Where do you buy Silver eagles?

I was hoping I could buy a roll or two from the Mint. I don't know much about them, but assume that I can't and that they don't come from the Mint? Looks like all retail to me.

Only limited number of people can get them. Then they in turn sell them to dealers, etc. Your best bet is a dealer, or a coin show usually has rolls for sale.

Can't buy them directly from Mint. Only on secondary market. So many sellers, however, that the markup isn't that bad. @ FUN show, someone was selling rolls of the 2003 for $135. That was about the best price I saw. Most others were wanting $140 a roll. Havn't been to a show since so don't know if its changed much.

I think that the 135/140 price would be ok for me. I live very rural and will have to look a semi- local show up on the www.

Post a request on the Buy, Sell and Trade forum Here and you'll get a few folks who can offer them. I bought a half roll there about a month ago for a really good price.

The US Mint website lists them for $24.00 a roll, plus $3.95 s/h.

BUT - 2003s aren't mentioned, and 2002s are shown as

Let me ask some of the old-timers - - Wouldn't it be possible to check the website periodically, and then buy some 2003s when they eventually go on sale? Or do the big dealers snap them all up instantly?

You CANNOT buy the uncirculated silver eagles from the mint, only proofs.
