Benchmark Ventures LP

Did anybody else receive a postcard from Benchmark Ventures???
The first sentence says; "We believe the most powerful asset is information "
I want to know who owns Benchmark Ventures. I go to their home page last month and it listed Todd Griffiths as the "OWNER". Today I go there and it lists Todd Griffiths as, "DIRECTOR OF ACQUISITIONS".
There is no listing for an owner anymore. They have a "PRESIDENT", by the name of CHRISTIAN BRIGGS. Anybody know of him ? They have a $12,000,000 inventory, they claim, so if I purchase a coin from them it would probably be expensive and I would like to know if anybody on this forum has done business with them. Thanks.

WOW, that thread is too long to read. I just want to know if anybody has bought a coin from them. Thanks.
  • the other thread stated they just use other dealers coins and mark up the price for the exact same coin.

I guess it's easy to explain a $12+ million inventory. If all other dealers are your inventory then you do have a big inventory! And a free markup.

  • They have also on at least one occasion, scanned the email addresses from these boards and the registry sets to create a spam mailing list for thier wares. This after one of thier people came on this board and said they had done no such thing, since the only way to get on thier mailing list was to purchase from them. The only problem being that several peeps (myself included) have never purchased from them and get thier spam all the time (they are also good at changing the address so they are difficult to block!).

  • They had a glitsy display at the FUN show. They had some rare and expensive gold coins, a glitsy Armani suit guy, wearing glitsy jewelry, passing out glitsy "investment" brochures. I avoided him like the plague.

Heck, I'm impressed with anyone who can even IDENTIFY an Armani suit. My J.C. Penny's off the rack specials probably wouldn't fool anyone.

Still nobody claiming to have bought a coin from Benchmark Ventures. It might be because they have hundreds of high end coins with {call for price } beside every coin. Don't you just hate that ??

I'm surprised you don't seem to recall them, Zerbe. In the thread that goose3 linked you responded 8 times. You also stated that you have previously bought coins from them, here is part of one of your posts

<< <i>I have bought a few coins from Benchmark Ventures. The person that I dealt with always gave me this line/// We are the largest wholesaler of coins. WE sell to all the dealers out there. You will save a ton of money with us, because you are eliminating the middleman. We have a 12 million dollar inventory. We are the largest submitter of coins to PCGS and NGC. If you don't like the coin, we will buy it back, etc, etc >>

OH,OH,OH,OH ! You jogged my memory when I saw that last sentence, " IF YOU DON"T LIKE THE COIN WE WILL BUY IT BACK "
They used to be called BV coins, when I bought a couple of coins from them. The owner of that company was a Christian Briggs. I think BV coins was supposed to be a wholesaler to dealers only, but he made a special exception for me.

lol. Mutual support here. We could all be on-line here, with each other, twenty-thirty years down the road, old and grey, finding inconsistancies from the archives. lol image

Yes, they've eliminated the middle man by adding his profit to their own. Hence no middleman, but an extra tier of overhead.image
