Very nicely done! I can't see any way to improve it, and it's got me thinking that maybe I should get some software for doing stuff like that.

I would have picked a different background color for that coin. Burgundy, black, or white. The blue compliments the coin too much...and on the layer effects for drop shadow, make the blur rate larger to soften that shadow....yours is a bit hard. Other than that, things are looking pretty good.

I like the blue a bit more than the black even. And, the black worked.
    Good job!

I think the day of depending only on a scanner is passed.

coppercoins, I wasn't sure about the background color myself. I'm still not sure if I like it.

  • What do you suppose your signature 1978-S ANACS MS64 toner is worth?

    Just curious.

    jamesfsm,

I asked another forum member what he would sell it for if it was slabbed by PCGS or NGC and he told me between 4 to 6 times greysheet gem ask.

That is a wicked looking obverse. How do you suppose it got that way? Still trying to imagine how the elliptical brilliant part stayed that way.

I'm still trying to understand how people feel about toned coins, the toning process and what is market acceptable. Usually, I offer no comment(s); I am however curious why, in this instance, there appears to be no natural progression or indicator as to the originating point of the toning. That is, that I can easily understand.

I understand how ordinarily the initial contact point is darker, as that portion is in contact longer, but, in this instance, the whole swathe of blue looks equally consistent in depth. It almost looks like it toned from the left and right inward. Anyway, I'm just talking out loud AND definitely don't want to initiate any debate whatsoever.

Just curious how the brilliant ellipse may have occurred and where you believe the initial point(s) of contact are.

Very nice. I agree with Charles, a neutral background is always best.
