Stop By Table 651 At Long Beach As Well

After you enjoy the Trade Dollar display at the PCGS Table and Laura's Table, please also stop by Table 651. Rick Kay (the newest Pattern Coin Dealer) will be displaying some spectacular 19th Century pattern coins at the Table and Rick has invited me to also display some modern coins.

I thought it would be a nice opportunity to put out some PCGS MONSTER DEEP CAMEO MODERNS along side regular PCGS DCAM examples. Most of these coins will be dated 1999-2002, but this will only acentuate the point even more (as many believe the Mint produces strong DCAM's on every proof coin these days). These will not be for sale, but simply to educate that there IS A BIG DIFFERENCE between "run of the mill" DCAM coins and spectacular DCAM's. I personally love the idea of building certain DCAM+++ collections for virtually the same price as regular coins. Many of these coins can be found today for well under $35! Yes, it may take 10 years (if not forever) before anyone cares, but I think they are kind of neat. If your budget for coins is more in line with $25-$50/coin, you might find the display very interesting image

I should also have a couple PCGS-MS69 State Quarters at the table, as well as some other modern "goodies".

I look forward to saying hello to anyone who stops by and I hope to see you there. image

Mitch- I'm looking forward to that. Your display should dispell the myth that all Modern DCAMS are the same.

It'll be neat to see Classic patterns right next to ClassicModerns!

Pat: It will be great to see you again as well. By the way, if you desire to showcase a few of your more breathetaking Monster Eagles, there is room on the table for them image

AND, I GUARANTEE TO ALL WHO STOP BY - NONE OF THE PCGS-PR69DCAM COINS IN THE DISPLAY AT THE TABLE WITH THE AMAZING MEGA-DCAM'S WILL BE "DOCTORED" COINS. image

I certainly hope there are more than a few "done deals" at Table 651 at LB. Mitch will have some great coins, and I'll have close to thirty patterns. As far as the "Monster Eagles" are concerned, that would add even more to the great diversity of the table. I am excited about having the opportunity to set up for the first time and look forward to meeting and discussing patterns (and listening to discussions about moderns, so I can learn) with anyone who is willing to yap with me.

Stewart: If your budget was $25-$50/coin, I suspect there would be worse things to buy than a monster DCAM 2003(s) flawless Lincoln image

But, again, the PCGS-PR69DCAM coins will not even for sale. They will just be there to illuminate the fact that not all holders are created equal - a lesson that obviously carries through to more classic coins as well. Wondercoin

By the way, I just got an email from Pat Braddick that he will display his toned Silver Eagle collection at the table as well. Anyone else with a neat modern coin - just PM me and we can show it off as well. Let the fun and party begin! image Wondercoin.

Stewart. As Mitch and some others know, when I search for a pattern, I won't sleep until I have it in my mitts. See you in six years...or at LB. Rick

Would love to be there to meet Rick. He was kind enough to submit an article on patterns for my website. Would be nice to thank him in person (and see some neat pattern coinage of course)

Baseball: I expect to be there on Thursday, however, I may be out of the room at times attending the afternoon session of the Heritage auction. But, there should always be someone at the table to show you the display, if I am not there for a bit. I look forward to meeting you as well. Wondercoin

Wondercoin, are all of these in the flag holders? Does one need to ask for a flag holder to get the ms69 or pr70dcam grades? I can't seem to get those grades!!
  • wondercoinwondercoin Posts: 16,974 ✭✭✭✭✭
Datentype: The PR70DCAM and MS69 state quarter I plan to bring to the show are in NON-FLAG HOLDERS. Maybe if you didn't stop looking at coins at 5:00 p.m. and worked until midnight like the rest of us, you would have a better shot at making one imageimageimage

All kidding aside, will I finally meet you at Long Beach? Wondercoin

Let's do it this time! I'll meet you at the table and not the restaurant. This way you can actually get to eat on time and not wait in the lobby like last time while i page you to the front of the show. Let me know if there's a time that works better than others. Maybe we can get together a group of people. i'm fairly flexible timewise.

Mark: "Beer and Champagne"! This isn't one of your infamous "Lakers Playoff" $500/ticket deals!! Just a nice Lunch (for slightly more money than the Hot Dog and soda stand) right before the Heritage auction starts. But, no doubt, it will be fun!! image Wondercoin

  • Mitch,
Great idea and a fun time. Nice to meet some of the people that have just been names on the boards. Some of the collection of toned coins that Bear passed around were truly beautiful. And to top it off, thanks to the benefactor (don't know whether he wants to be identified, so I won't) who picked up the lunch tab for all 20 (or so) of us.

Musta been a heckava lunch. First post is almost 7pm. image
I happened to make a mistake and call Mitch during The Lunch. The background noise sounded like Christmas...
    10 jaws a flappin'
    9 glasses clankin'
    8 slabs a crackin'
    7 soups a slurpin'
    6 grades a gripe-'n'
    5 high fives...
    4 ATs
    3 resubmissions
    2 braddicks, and,
    1 payer of the check.

What a great lunch! Essentially, an orgy for the coin lover!! image

And, a special thanks to Miles Standish, VP of marketing at PCGS and senior grader at Long Beach this week, who graciously "picked up the bill" for all 20 of us!

Maybe we can do it again next Long Beach!! Wondercoin
