Home PSA Set Registry Forum

I've posted scans of my set...

I took heed to the post last week regarding posting scans of our sets.
More should take the time to do this. It was easier than I thought, and I'm no computer whiz.

The set is Rob - Stars 1962 - 63 Parkhurst hockey.
If interested in hockey check them out.

I attempted to post a link to the set but suffered a brain freeze. Sorry, especially to BKAH. image

    Rob,

    Nice scans, Thanks.

How did you do the iPix scans...I've never seen that before.

I have all of my cards saved to floppy disc. The registry allowed me to upload them from the disc.
I do not have a scanner so I have a friend scan them for me and put them on floppy discs.
While ashamed, I sometimes save the scan from items I purchase on Ebay. I know some people frown on this practice but it saves me time.
I am really quite computer challenged.image

So, with that said there is no reason why many others could not post scans of at least the highlights cards in their sets. Those scans took me less than 15 minutes to add to the registry.

Believe me, if I can do it anybody can...

  • Great job, Rob!

Thanks for the pix. I have no interest in your set as a collector (no offense intended - it's just not what I collect), but I spent the time to look at your uploaded pictures because you are one of the few to do it on a rare 40+ year old set. Great stuff!

Again, I would like to ask everyone else out there to do this. What is the point of looking at someone's registered set if you can't see what the cards look like?

    Thanks again Rob.

    Great Job.

  • And what's wrong with using a scan from ebay from an auction that I've won? That saves soooo much time.

  • Mark,

If that's the only method you have at your disposal, I have no problem with it. It's better than not having anything to see.

  • It's not the only way I have to get scans up, but it is the fastest and most efficient. And it works.

  • Does anyone know the size restrictions on scans? Is it 50kb a card? Nothing bigger than 600 dpi or something to that nature?

I'm not sure if they have a MAX size for uploading, but I have quite a few cards that are over 60K.

The size restriction is 100kb per scan. I use a 300dpi scan and reduce it to 33%.

I scan my cards at 600 DPI and do not reduce them in size at all and they upload fine. My pics actually show bigger than Basilone's 1965 Set. So I guess PSA doesnt auto-size like ebay does.

Yes..if you use 600 dpi and do not reduce than the scans are going to be huge and will not fit the size of many monitors.

Wow, mine aren't that big are they??lolol

They seem to fit in my screen just fine, no problem. And I can see the up-close detail of each card. Not like a little ebay pic.

I have a 17" monitor here at work....and the bottom part of the slabs are cut off on your pics. For example on the 1975 Mel Blount. The monitor cuts off the scan right under the S in the Steelers banner. On my screen there is not a bar to move the picture up or down...so I cannot see the entire card. Plus...as a suggestion...I would use a black background for the scans...its makes the cards look alot nicer.

Look about 5 or 6 posts up to my first one. I put a link titled "My Rookie Set with Pics". They are 600 DPI, no reduction in size.

Wow, your resolution must be like 640 X 480...lol

Also, I'm not sure why you can't move the scan window. Would the scan fit your screen if you could move it?

As far as the black background goes, some cards have white borders, some have black, some have yellow, etc. If it was just one set (1965 Topps for example) it would be easy to do them all the same. With the amount of cards I was scanning, I didnt see it to be that necessary. Especially given the size and ease you can see the cards in my scans.

Maybe in the future i will consider contrasting backgrounds. I'm just happy to have pics of all my cards up as most do not even go that far.

    Thanks for the input,

Mine is as well, but Ive got at least a couple of inches at the bottom of the screen when I move the window all the way to the top.

I'm just trying to figure out if this is an isolated problem, or something that happens ro others as well. I've looked at my cards on 2 different computers(home and work) and never had a problem. If anyone else could take a look and let me know your findings.

  • JasP24,

Yes. Your scans are huge. They go off the bottom of my 17" monitor and my resolution is set at 1152x864 (probably higher than most users). 99.99% of stuff I look at on the net is viewable on my monitor. Your pics are a little over. I'd suggest reducing them a bit.

Here is a link to my '70 Topps Baseball set. As of this evening I've got scans posted of 633 out of the 720 cards in the set.

Enjoyed looking at your set. The scans are a perfect size, even on my smaller laptop.

Very impressed that you took the time to show scans of the reverse as well.
