"Best of the Worst Known" PCGS Modern Registry PHOTOS are up- with a plea!

braddickbraddick Posts: 24,165 ✭✭✭✭✭
I finally got around to shooting photos of these stellar coins (!). It's only 24% complete, and here's my plea: If you, as a collector or Dealer, happen to have a raw Modern in super low grade, problem free, laying around- please submit it with your next batch of coins to PCGS. I promise to make it worth your while! I'm having difficulty finding some of these, especially a Modern Commemorative and a Lincoln Memorial cent (are there any in less than FN12? ::Sheesh:: I don't think so! Billions minted and circulated, where are the low grades?!).image

-I'm particularly pleased with the 1950-D Jefferson. They were almost instantly hoarded upon their release and finding this one in Fine was a real treat.

The attrition rates of cents is extremely high. The odds are stacked strongly
against them being used enough times to achieve low grade. I've seen low
    grade VG's though. Good luck.

Nice pictures Pat. The SBA looks better circulated than it does in UNC.

As someone who made a contribution to Pat's set...embarrassingly enough a coin that I thought was much nicer...I will say that he pays top dollar for these bottom of the barrel coins. If I come across any more, I will definitely let you know!

Thanks Monsa, For the right "PO01" I've paid MS prices. I know that some of these are tougher in problem free (read: PCGS slabbable) than their higher grade counterparts.
I also have quickly learned I can't find them all on my own- no matter how much I search.

Somewhere, somehow, there are these little jewels sitting in YOUR collection. Maybe in the back of a drawer or tossed in with other "culls" (I don't like that term!).

Find them and submit! Or, if you don't have a submission pending anytime soon send them to me raw.
    I won't disapoint you, promise.

I think, collectively, we can build this Registry up to the 50% mark by summer.
    That's my plea.
  • I love those Ikes. They`re a couple of the coolest I`ve ever seen. The set may not be #1 on the technical grade but, it is #1 on the cool scale!image I`ll keep an eye out to see if any are out there to fit into your collection.

That's impressive stuff there, Pat. Quite a challenge, to find the very worst coin you possibly can with the date still visible! Nice toning on that SBA image

Too bad you can't mix proofs and MS coins together. I've got a couple circulated modern proofs that would look good in your set.

    Pat,

"MS prices for a PO-01"??? I sold you a PCGS PO-01 and I did not even get G-4 price! What is the "right" piece?

I did my contribution to the "Worst Known Set"

Tom, I believe I paid what you asked. If there was money left on the table, who then is the better negotiator? image
