83CC DMPL Morgan Arrived!

Here are some pics of the 83 Ultra Cameo of which there was a post several days ago. the coin arrived today and it's stunning! The depth of the mirroring is really amazing, fields are very clean with only minor contact marks and a Strong strike. Not sure if it will make the 65 grade, on a good day, maybe.

Faint, deep purple toning on the rim from 7 to 12 o'clock.

For some reason the finger prints really stand out in the scan, but are almost invisible to the naked eye, this is a little odd.

Who to send the coin to, PCGS, ANACS? Should I send it out and have the fingerprints dealt with?

    Cheers,

  • I think I would have someone take a look at those prints before you Slab it!

    Very cool coin though!

Try sending that to PCGS first. If it makes it in a PCGS holder, it will bring some money. Be warned however, that PCGS has this urge to kick back a large percentage of PLs as "altered surfaces".

Depends how much money you want to spend and how much the prints bother you.

You can send it to ncs and see if they can remove the fingerprints without hurting the fields then have them send it to ngc and grade it or have them send it back raw and send it to pcgs or anacs.

If you do not belong to the ana or collectors society then you will have to join one of them to use ncs or go thru a dealer.

  • If I send this coin ncs and have the prints removed, will PCGS kick it back for altered surface?

They shouldn't. Ncs's job is to conserve coins not hurt them.
Just make sure ncs knows not to do anything if the fields will be hurt.
I would rather have it with the print and deep fileds than without the prints and impaired fields.
Thats a personal prefrence some might prefer it the other way.
