Could the missing page be a mint error?
Maybe it was the page with the order form for sea monkey's on it.

Yikes - does it cost the same to "slab" a comic book? and can you ever read it again?

    Comics is complicated

Looks like you got a net grade. At least with coins all the pages are there.

BTW : Do you know how the story ends on page 9?

Why oh why didn't I inspect all the pages????? I didn't want to open this excellent book and cause stress lines on the spine which will affect the grade... I'll always open then from now on......

    But...

If the grades have to open the book won't they stress the spine as well?

I bet they don't even wear gloves

Its possible, hopefully they are very very careful, kinda like coin graders putting a big finger print on the coins......

Some of my graded comics are toning rather nicely!

Open a comic book in a careful manner, and the spine won't be stressed. Also, as far as fingerprints go, they can be avoided if the hands are kept nice and clean and dry. This is sometimes not so easy when the comic in question is worth a lotta $.

On the simpsons bart and two other kids bought a comic and used tweezers to trun the pages.
The sterilized it first in a candle.
