Sac Dollar Rolls....I'm confused now for sure

Whats the deal with Sac Dollar rolls.....

We read so many complaints about the looks and the terrible strikes, but.....

Just saw this on Ebay
"RARE!! 2000-D US MINT $25 ROLL SACAGAWEA
THIS IS ONE OF THE VERY FIRST ROLLS FROM THE MINT. IT HAS NO D ON THE PAPER. YOU MUST LOOK AT THE END COIN TO KNOW IF IT IS P OR D AND IF YOU HAVE A HEADS HEADS ROLL, YOU MAY NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE WITH OUT REMOVING A COIN FROM THE ROLL. SO THIS ONE IS SURE TO GO UP IN VALUE. SO SEE PHOTOS AND SEE MY OTHER AUCTIONS. THANKS FOR LOOKING AND GOOD LUCK. "

This is the first I've heard of the Rare no 'D' roll.....

This caught my eye, and I started looking at the number of bids and prices of Original Mint Sac rolls. The 2002's are selling for ~50-75 bucks a roll, the 2001's are selling for ~100 bucks a pair (P and D mint). One set (Item# 3306980393), an '02 P and D pair fetched a whopping $198.00 with 16 bids.

What gives?

  • RB,
Ah...silly me, I put mine in the coin star machine last year. image Otherwise, I have no idea what the premium is.

I read your thread as indicating there is no "D" on the ROLL; as in US Mint $1 2000 (no mintmark). Maybe I am mistaken. image

OR, are you j ust being facetious with the "Rare No D..." comment?

I would hazzard a guess and say that the paper roll isn't marked with a mint from which the coins came. I'll bet all coins are mintmarked just fine. A simple play on words.
  • Lanlord is correct....

The seller is referring to a roll fo 2002-D roll that doesn't have a D printed on the paper. It only sold for 34 bucks tho.
