  • I'm up in the air on that one.

The obverse looks authentic, but the reverse looks AT.

Also looks like the coin may be a proof. If it is a proof, it's a bit more likely that the toning is authentic, as they tend to have wild toning like that.

Hoepfully some other can chime in on this.
  • I was thinking that too. But I really dont know if it is proof. What can I do to know that?? Sorry, newbieimage
  • Actually I think pictures of this were posted not to long ago. I believe it was up for sale on ebay, and it caused quiet a ruckus. The fightning was over weather it was At or real.

I have many Lincoln wheats that have toned none of them have this type of toning on them I believe it is At. I just dont see purple like this on lincoln cents wheats or other wise. So i have to say AT major AT.

    Coqui,

In my opinion, it is extremely unlikely that the color is original. I will leave it at that.

I concur with Coinguy and will add that the coin is not a proof.

We pull hundreds from the 50's mint sets with this type of toning and color. I have never seen any date before '41 with the colors as the coin you have posted. I wonder if someone put it in the papers from a 55-58 set?

Isn't that the same coin Jeff bid and won (doops) about two weeks or so ago? I think so, unless it's the twin of that one. He responded, upon receipt of the Lincoln that it appears more AT than the photo let on. Hairlines too, from what I recall of his statement here.

the rims should be squared off and flat, these appear to be more rounded, as far as the color, it does not appear to be natural. hope this helps.image
  • IMHO, AT and not proof (rims are not proof - too thin, color looks too intense for natural toning.)

Here's mine, graded 66RN by PCGS:

    Lincoln

It has a rainbow but it's much "tighter"...ie the rainbow from one end of the spectrum to the other is much smaller
