Submission results on some I cracked out

I was curious on how some cards would regrade so I went through some of my 1968 Topps and pulled out 18 high end cards the were originally graded 8 and resubmitted them to see how they'd do. The results were suprisingly consistant - 3 upgraded to 9's and 1 downgraded to a 7, the rest came back 8 again. In the end it probably wasn't worth the time and money, but I was curious and I hadn't sent anything to be graded for a while so I needed a fix.

  • I cracked a psa-7 George Brett rookie for my last submission and it came back an 8. I've owned the card for years bought it dirt cheap as a graded 7 and always looked at it wondering WHY it's not an 8. Well, now I have an 8!!

I have a 1970 Rose that I thought was pretty sweet. I submitted it about a year ago through a friend that thought I had a legit shot at a 9 as I did. It came back an 8 and after looking at it for several months I decided to crack it and try for the 9. I actually got a 7 back. I knew that was absolutely wrong so that lasted in the 7 holder for about an hour after I received it. On the second send back I received my grade of an 8 back. I still think this card is as good as any of the 1970 PSA 9 cards I have seen. The card I have is just a slight bit darker than the other Roses I have, but I didn't think that should take away from the grade. When putting together my 1970 set I actually like the darker grey cards better because they just seem stronger for some reason. I will settle on my 8 and now I need the 1970 All Star in 8 to go with it.
    Looking for 77 cloth 9s and 10s.
    54 Red Hearts
    and now 64 Stand ups

Yeah most of these cards were high-end 8's, although when I broke a few out I noticed some small defects on a couple that I knew would keep them from a 9. It was worth a shot to try to add a few more 9's to my set and I could have got lucky and pulled a few more 9's...oh well it brought a little excitement when the submission popped!
