I'm beyond amazed. Yes, 1971 Kellogg's prices on e-bay have doubled since Christmas, but this deal---$267.00--for an ungraded Pete Rose is unbelievable. It's about $200 more than what I would have guessed. So what is an PSA 8 or 9 worth? Ebay listing of 1971 Kellogg's Pete Rose

I'm sure that's some kind of raw Kellogg's record. I do remember a raw '70 Clemente go over $200 once.
First -- your link is wrong. It should be This one.
Second -- the 1971 Kelloggs said is many, many times tougher to put together in top grade than the 1970 Kelloggs set. In my mind, the 1970 Kelloggs set is more popular simply because it is somewhat easy to put together in PSA 9. Not sure if that Rose is overprice, but the bottom line is that it is much tougher to find. Besides the Clemente and Mays card -- no other card from the set has been graded high in any significant numbers. For Rose, the 1970 Kelloggs card has a PSA 9 population 12 times that of the 1971 -- and a PSA 8 population 6 times higher than that of 1971.
Finally -- perhaps it was a bit of an ego/bidding war going on. Bidding was only at around $75- with four hours to go -- and then three bidders took it up to the $267 level, with only two of them above $180.
