PCI grading?

Either I will continue to post or tire from head butts to the bricks. I received another auction today having a bunch of PCI graded Morgans up to MS65, while the luster is fantastic and few scratches are present, I'd like to know your opinion of them---and TIA. I shall continue the ever present virtue of knowledge (off the board) without being too obnoxious.
Its a foul ball by a fair margin.

  • Well,

PCI can be better than those ACG ones you bought.

But not by a whole lot.

If you're not happy with them, send them back.

I personally don't recommend anything but PCGS, NGC, and ANACS to someone who is just starting in the hobby.

Once you're more familiar with the grading standards and what to look for, you can start branching off into raw and third-tier slabs...sometimes there are bargains to be found!

Myself, I still don't trust my grading skills enough to buy anything but the big three.

I would highly suggest learning how to grade and sticking with the really cheap stuff until you get a handle on it - that doesn't mean buying slabbed coins, it means reading the books associated with good grading skills and observing - observe the grades on coins in slabs, see where they went right, see where they went wrong. You'll develop an eye for it over time.

  • Thanks gents, I know I am still on a steep learning curve, but the intrigue and beauty of so many coins are almost overwhelming. I will continue upwards. ALSO---In the auction I purchased a 09SVDB with a double hit? I'll try to bring up a pic of it.
