Toned Morgan - Opinions please

Took a risk and bought this coin on ebay. Even if it is AT, it will make a good reference coin for me to study. Maybe it real? I'm to new to toned coins to know very much....thanksimage

    If you like it then you bought a nice coin. I can't tell you if it is or not, the only thing i know about toning is if i like it or not. That coin looks like it has a really strong strike.

    I guess the best answer I can give is that it's quite unlike anything I've encountered in quite a while. It certainly looks AT to me.

    However, you took the exact correct approach with your purchase. You probably spent very little for the piece and plan to use it as a reference coin as you continue to learn about toned coins.

    Some of the AT Morgans on ebay do look nice. I have also seen some nasty ones that I can't believe someone would even buy.

    Thats a cool `84 Placid.I,m not real tone expert but I think the color on that one is really old or could be considered original.Its so ugly its beautiful.
    It is tough to determine how the color is sitting on the coin from just a scan.
    But I like this one so some odd reason.
    oH,The `21 might be `real` toning,just not original toning.Hard to say it was colored intentionally
    or just cleaned improperly and / or stored improper.
