Another baddddddddd day in the life of indianabyron

Today I got the axe at work .. Work force reduction.. In other words they got rid of my job... Wow never thought it would happen to me. But I cant complain I got 5 weeks of severence 2 weeks of vacation and 1 week of personal time. So eight weeks of total severence. Now dont think im happy with it im not its just one of those things that happens. Guess this puts the kibosch on buying coins. LOL I dont think so.. I just have to take it easy and not buy so many of them.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
Will it be asy for you to get a new job in your area?
God forbid you have to stop buying coins.
Hopefully all this will work out for the best.
I wish you luck!!!!!!!!!

If not and you have enough experience, maybe you could start up shop yourself with maintenence contracts with these things - or start manufacturing a similar product.
My motto has always been - don't get mad, get even
I'm familiar with everything you said. Long mfg career here too.
I would think you should get back on your feet quickly. In my area, skilled labor is tough to come by.
Geothermal units are big bucks, but save a bunch of money.
Keep us up to date. I'll be rooting for you!
Good Luck!

Seriously, that sucks. Same thing just happened to another forum member a few days ago.
I know "it's an opportunity" is trite, but, well... it is. And it sounds like you've got a varied skill set to draw from. Though if companies everywhere are doing this, you might need to create your own job.
Good luck in your future endeavours, whatever they are.

Then our biggest client fired our firm and me and 9 other new lawyers got the pink slip...in February of 1991. I was fairly shocked but getting laid off turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened to me.
After i got laid off, i went out on my own. Opened up my own law practice. At first, i would do any kind of law, knowing that i wanted to eventually specialize in personal injury. Things were very tough at first. Had my car repossessed, got locked out of my law offices which was actually my apartment (The Law Apartment of Adrian Crane.......) and had my phone turned off. I had an 1804 Half Cent in PCGS MS 65 Brown which i ended up having to sell to Heritage for emergency money....to get my phone turned on and my apartment unlocked. I also borrowed 3200 from my parents. My Dad gave me a Toyota Corolla without air conditioning (in Dallas, in the summer....).
I told you, i know what being poor is all about. (I was also rather poor growing up.)
Twelve years later, i'm thankfully still self employed and things are very good...to say the least.
I've helped launch the careers of several other lawyers and try to help my clients, employees and friends when i'm presented with the opportunity and am able, never forgetting how desperate and alone i felt when i was struggling and how good a helping hand was when i was down on my luck.
With out the help from other people over the years, i would not have ended up as "lucky" as i am.
Hang in there and just remember, you're just one job away from full employment and if you make getting a job your full time job, pretty soon you'll have a job. And if self-employement is your calling.....just sit down with a pencil and paper and figure out how to do it....and do it.
Don't lose heart and pray for wisdom!

Sorry to hear the news.

I've done a couple career transition seminars....You gotta treat each day as a work day. Get up, get showered, and start the job of finding another job....that is now your full time job and you have to go at it as hard as you worked before. Don't be shy or thinking you're imposing by calling up old contacts and doing the "networking" game. Be upbeat...stay positive...be prepared for a lot of rejection...don't take it personally...and don't wallow around looking at your coins bemoaning your fate. ( I don't mean this to sound harsh or unsympathetic...just trying to inspire you to get up and keep moving). Get some exercise each day to keep the mind and body fresh. I won't go on any more, but you get the idea. Get out there and plug your strengths...nobody will care more about you than you !!!
Get out there and knock 'em dead !!!
Hey I just thought of one good point I dont have to get up at 3am everymorning.
