Returning coin to UK

Just got a coin I won from a Brit covered with fingerprints and other crud.I'm gonna return it but the local PO tells me I can't insure it back to the UK plus the package can't be sealed w/tape.
I don't trust the US mail, no less the "Royal Mail" without insurance.
I guess I'll try to clean it up and drop a "Negative' feedback on the seller.
Any alternative suggestions? Twowood image

Email the seller and let him know you are not happy, and why. Ask him if he knows of a safe way for you to return ship the coin. Maybe he will offer you a partial refund. In any event, give the seller the chance to make this right before leaving him a neg.

Use global priority for $5. No insurance, but there is a barcode tracking number issued. As far as insurance, the coin package can be sent registered for a stated value and can be insured. Package must be wrapped without plastic tape. If the PO clerk says no, ask to speak with a supervision because he/she will know better.

Packages to most countries can be insured. (UK included). Any tape that will show
a post mark is acceptable. (paper backed).

So how did you get a coin "covered with fingerprints"? Did the seller not have a picture and you bid on it blind or did he have such good pictures that he could hide the fingerprints?

You can insure it for $40 if sent registered for about $10. How big is the coin and what is the value? A thin cardboard photo mailer can be used without filling out a customs form- which in my book is a plus. mike image

What I was getting at.....you were talking about maybe trading negs with the seller so if it was accuratly desribed I wouldn't worry about it but if the seller misrepresented it I would certianly ask for a refund but to answer your ? you can return it with Global Airmail which takes about 1 week or Global Economy which takes about 1 month. Both services offer insurance and/or return receipt. The people at your PO told you wrong.
