It looks like the 1986 Fleer Basketball Set has finally been completed in PSA 10

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

  • He's still missing a sticker...
Why do I get the feeling, that some cards are worth money, while others are not?

I thought that it might have been missing a card or two -- but was largely PSA 10 with a few PSA 9's. The individual that owns this set apparently also has another base set (not all the stickers, as Sol mentioned) that is 96+% complete in PSA 10. Seems like he is the market maker....

Wow wow wow. Looks like the Wilkins was the stickler all this time. I'd love to see some pictures and a little text up there.

that set is a beauty!.unfortunately the dollar
value will decline precipitously with the continuing
opening of boxes given the decline in the jordan and
other stars in the set.the pops rapidly increase and
the prices commensurately decrease.one day i'll do this
set in psa 10 but without paying more than $40-50 per
common in psa 10 and i guess 1/10th the high prices
on the stars.i remember all the cards that were 1/1
in psa 10 that i sold just 2 1/2 years ago and today
there are multiples of most.still the prettiest set and
most (rc)stars of all sports as i see it.

If a 1986-87 Fleer basketball psa 10 set was a stock, I would take a substantial short position right now(or buy puts).

Granted I personally think the long term value of this set would not be a great investment ..... Nor do I collect this set ... But any complete set in PSA 10 is a remarkable achievement . It shows persistence, focus and drive and should be commended....

    Luxury Wines,

I agree and it has been said. Do you really want a set registry message board where everyone drools over a set or do you want one where there is occasionally an opinion that is a bit controversial. King Kellogg says its amazing. I say its an accomplishment(although not amazing) but likely to be a very bad investment from this point forward(as will be most modern sets).
  • Davalillo,

You're in luck - I'm selling puts! image I do agree that it probably isn't the best of long term investments but it would be great to own it!

  • Is this the first/only completed set to have a 10.00 set rating? I'm not into the graded modern cards and I don't look at the sets that often.

    JEB.
  • Davalillo,

If some board members are effusive in their praise of completed sets that is okay with me.... Likewise if you want to downplay or be a dissenting voice from time to time that is okay as well (it is always good to have someone question things....) To each his own ...

There are a few others, like the 1988 Fournier Estrellas Basketball, but I believe this is both the largest and oldest complete 10.00 set. Of course I could be totally completely horribly wrong image
