Didn't win the bid on Ebay? Try this method to get your coins.

I won a Large Date 1970 mint set. The second bidder Emailed the seller posing as me, paid for the set
and it was shipped to him. Then my money showed upimage

The seller had 2 sets so mine is comming. But the second buyer had over 2000 transactions with no
negatives, then for $0.50, he had to try this. image

Yeah, and the seller can't neg that buyer either since they weren't part of the transaction. I'd still, as a seller and buyer, report this person to ebay. For whatever good it'll do.

seems pretty stupid to me. especially if the buyer decides to just keep this extra check.

another possible scam is watching an auction end and then e-mailing the winning bidder, telling them what your paypal account is, referencing that auction. you know people don't watch that stuff close enough.

that's why i check my auctions carefully now.

  • I don't like sending to an email address unless its someone I know, or teust (I've done it with members here). I'm a "get it over with guy," so as soon as an auction ends, I'll click the link and off to PayPal I go. I've been incredibly lucky, I think. Hundreds of transactions, and thousands of dollars, but no major problems yet. I do tend to deal ewith the same people though.

I have heard of that happening before. Who knows how many times people try it and it doesn't work.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • If the seller did not have 2 sets, then he would have contacted me to say he could'nt sell the set. My reaction
would have been that he did not like my bid, and wanted more.

Then this starts a big mess.image

I long ago realized this was a possiblility and have always been very careful. I never respond to an email announcing the PayPal account to pay, I either click/check links in the auction itself or email the seller and wait for a reply.
