I was gonna try to snipe a bid this morning....

ebay #3004130984 (Could someone link,please?)

If I didn`t know better,I`d swear these auctions were fixed.I was going to bid a bit over ms-63 money as the coin looked 63-64.Alas, there seems to be some folks with more money than senseimage. The scans are good, but there could be problems with the coin not apparent, and at the price it went for, that`s a he11 of a roll of the dice!image I don`t think these coins can be viewed in person, and if they can be, maybe that can explain the high bids.

I attended these auctions when they were LIVE,real auctions, and there were bargains to be had amongst the junk, but after watching the ebay auctions over a year now,I guess the deals are just to RICH for me! image

    Linkified.

Pretty coin. So that sold for about 64 money? Looks like it has a shot, but you're right, you never know until you see it up close and personal.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • Vam,

I'm finding that with gold on the rise, people are paying +++ premiums for gold coins. There are two schools of thought here and I'm not an expert in either one. 1. Gold will continue to rise and these coins will too, therefore I will buy at any "Reasonable" cost knowing I will see an increase in value. 2. Gold has risen and may rise further but I will not chase it and continue to pay only what I think is a fair price for the coin.

I've missed acouple also. I'm trying to resist cahsing the market..It is tough.

  • I've noticed that all of the auctions the Commonwealth of Penn puts up (and I think Virginia also) bring a heavy premium. I'm not sure why, except possibly some people feel a stronger snse of confidence in an item presented by the State. I've yet to see any of the "Commonwealth of" auctions go for anything near "appropriate money" for a sight unseen, accurately described coin. They always bring an appreciable premium.
